The following is a list of rules at Durham Rising which are intended to keep us all safe and legal at this free summer event. Downtown Durham Inc, The City of Durham and all of our sponsors thank you for your adherence to these rules.
How much does it cost to come to Durham Rising?
Durham Rising is a FREE event! Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the event. No food or drink may be brought into the event. (please check "What can I bring to Durham Rising?" below)
Where do I park?
Most of the parking decks in downtown will be open and will be free! We will be posting a parking map in the next few days on this website. There will be multiple signs leading visitors from the Durham Freeway into downtown parking areas, so follow the signs! The following parking decks will be available during the event: American Tobacco North & South Decks, Corcoran St Deck, Chapel Hill St Deck (entry off of Mangum St), Durham Centre Deck & the Church Street Deck. On-street parking will also be available in downtown around the loop and in the other districts.
What can I bring to Durham Rising?
- Disposable cameras
- Umbrellas
- Supplies needed for children
- One unopened bottle of water
- Low seating or portable 'camping' style chairs
Rules About Alcohol
- No alchoholic beverages may be brought into the event - Alcohol will be available at the Beer Tasting Garden and at downtown restaurants.
- Coolers are NOT allowed.
- No alcoholic beverages may be taken outside of the designated areas.
- You must be 21 to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages.
- Everyone must present a valid ID. WE CARD EVERYONE—REGARDLESS OF AGE.
Other Information
- This event will take place RAIN OR SHINE!
- No Pets are allowed at Durham Rising.
- No skating or biking is allowed on the premises.
- No solicitation is allowed at Durham Rising.
- No recording devices.
- No food may be brought into the event. There will be food.
Lost Children
Parents should immediately report lost children to the Information Tent at the Corner of Parrish Street & Corcoran St or find a Volunteer wearing a STAFF Tshirt.
Anyone finding a lost child should immediately take that lost child to the nearest Volunteer or to the Information Tent at the Corner of Parrish Street & Corcoran St.
